[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Seattle, WA – It wasn’t just the heat from the kilns that made the Glassworks’ Open House the hot place to be on Tuesday evening, February 12, 2008. The music, the food, and the crowd were sizzling as the more than 150 invited guests were treated to live jazz by Deems and a quartet of musicians, fine culinary treats, and the “crashing” of the Glassworks’ kilns every half hour.

A lively annual event, this year’s Open House was attended by developers, contractors, craftspeople, artists, current and former Glasswork’s clients, and a variety of architects including Karen Muraoka of Architects Hawaii who traveled all the way from the big island to attend. Feasting on delicious food from a select group of local Seattle restaurants fortunate enough to have Glassworks works-of-art as part of their design themes, guests munched on gourmet selections from Kaspar’s, Cactus, Perry Ko’s South China Restaurant, and Pagliacci.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Every half hour, Glassworks’ staff (wearing big green buttons to identify themselves) “crashed” the kilns. The act of opening a kiln to see what’s cooking inside, the “crashing” showed guests the steps it takes to fabricate a Glassworks work-of-art. There was also a gallery display of images of new Glassworks’ installations and an arched doorway inset with slumped glass embossed with a floral design for the crowd to “Ooh” and “Ahh” over. Owner Tish Oye and master glass craftsman, Steve Shahbaghlian, along with the very knowledgeable Glassworks’ crew were on hand to meet and greet, give tours of the studio, and answer questions about glass and its fabrication and design.

As the evening came to an end, guests were treated to a special Glassworks raffle. The lucky winner, Arthur Hoki, Project Assistant of Stuart Silk Architects Limited, took home a beautiful Kiln-formed bowl that was deeply sand carved prior to slumping and valued at $1,800. Hailed by all as the “best” Glassworks’ Open House yet, partygoers are already looking forward to next year’s festive event.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Latest News” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:55px|text_align:center|color:%23000000|line_height:60px” google_fonts=”font_family:Lora%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” el_class=”latest-news-new-page”][vc_row_inner el_class=”new-post-carousel”][vc_column_inner][na_posts_carousel height=”277px” excerpt=”0″ comment=”none” catg=”none” dot=”false” autoplay=”false” slide_visible=”2″ txtsize=”24px” txtclr=”#000000″ dateclr=”#686868″ descclr=”#888888″ settings=”size:10|order_by:date|order:ASC|post_type:post|categories:20″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”get-in-touch-block”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Have a Vision for your Unique Space? ” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:55px|text_align:center|color:%23000000|line_height:60px” google_fonts=”font_family:Lora%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_custom_heading text=”Get In Touch” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:55px|text_align:center|color:%23597b7c|line_height:60px” google_fonts=”font_family:Lora%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” el_class=”get-in-touch-link” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fglassworksinc.com%2Fcontact-us%2F|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
